Michael MacVay

Director of Junior Programming

Coach Mike has long been involved in junior tennis since taking his first summer job teaching at the age of 16 at a country club in his hometown of Grand Blanc, Michigan. Arriving in Austin for graduate school in fall of 2011, Coach Mike quickly became involved in the tennis community in the area serving as a graduate volunteer for the University of Texas Men’s Tennis Team before moving on to academy coaching. After years traveling all over the place with students and finding great pride in developing strong friendships, he took a brief hiatus from tennis coaching before returning to the industry to join the team at RippnerTennis. Serving as the Director of Junior Programming, Coach Mike has never been more appreciative of his place in this world and loves connecting with new families each day.

Under his tenure with RippnerTennis, Coach Mike has created a vibrant developmental community. With a strong emphasis on 10-and-Under Tennis and USTA Junior Team Tennis, the junior program has become a destination for families seeking to further deepen their love for the sport. In addition to introductory tennis, Coach Mike is proud to have in place coaches that guide our high-performance athletes to help achieve their competitive goals and seek high sectional rankings.

Coach Mike is the recipient of the Capital Area Tennis Association “Junior Tennis Professional of the Year” in 2014 and the USTA “North Star Award” in 2015. In addition to his responsibilities with RippnerTennis, Coach Mike also serves as a board member for the Capital Area Tennis Association.
