Weekend Classes | Ages 3 and 4

Red Ball 0.5 | Ages 3 & 4 | 36’ Court | $15/class | What is This?
Offered on
Saturdays and Sundays from 9:15am – 10:00am
This class is the ideal entry point for future tennis stars to fall in love with the game. We provide a warm, inviting atmosphere so that our young students gain a positive association with the tennis court. In this structured setting, children will learn basic hand-eye coordination and body control through a combination of games. Education and enjoyment take top priority.
Suggested Equipment: 19″ – 21″ tennis racquet, water bottle, athletic shoes, weather-appropriate clothing
Student-to-Teacher Ratio: 4:1
Skills Introduced: basic hand-eye coordination, ball tracking, tennis-appropriate reactions, respect, good sportsmanship and cooperation with in a group setting

How do i register for the Red Ball .5 Class? (Please do not “Drop In” you must  register in advance)
Step 1: Determine what dates you want attend.
Step 2: Call the ProShop at 512-442-1466 and ask to register your child for the 9:15am “Red Ball .5 class”. Please tell us every date you want to attend. You can register as far in advance as the dates are listed (See Below). We will take payment of $15 the morning of the class when you check in at the front desk.

Classes for Red Ball .5 are offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:15am – 10:00am (See dates offered below)
June: 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th
July: 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st
August: 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th

How do i Register for Summer Weekend Classes?
Step 1: Review the Session Dates and list of classes offered below to determine what class you child belongs in. Decide if you want to attend Session 1, Session 2 or both sessions.
Step 2: Need advice? email Coach Mike at [email protected] to clear up any questions.
Step 3: Email Coach Mike to register after you determine what classes and what Sessions you want to attend. Be clear with your communications.
Step 4: After Coach Mike completes your registration you will receive an Invoice from Coach Mike through email. Use that invoice to process your payment at the front desk. Coach mike will give a copy of the invoice to the front desk to assist with the payment process. Please have your copy of the invoice just in case we need to verify the correct amount.
Payment FAQ:
Question? How do i present the invoice to the front desk staff? Answer: You can print it out and bring it to us or you can forward it to [email protected] so that we can view it. Please wait to forward the invoice to us until you are prepared to make payment. You can make payment in person or over the phone as long as we have an invoice to view.
Question? Do i have to make the full payment of the invoice? Answer: Yes, if you register for 2 sessions  of classes and your invoice shows a payment due of $180.00, we expect payment in full.

Red Ball 1.0 | Ages 5 & 6 using a Red Ball on a 36’ Court | What is This?
Offered on Saturdays and/or Sundays 10:00am – 10:45am

Many students enter this class as their first exposure to the sport and Ripper Tennis provides our young students with the essential skills to learn organically and grow with the game. Students will learn body, racquet, and ball control through cooperative games and contests. This class will be the student’s first exposure to hitting a ball that bounces before they strike. Students will also learn to use opposite sides of the racquet to hit a ball with and on which side of their bodies to use one hand (forehand) and two hands (backhand).
Suggested Equipment: 21″ – 23″ tennis racquet, water bottle, athletic shoes, sport and weather-appropriate clothing
Student-to-Teacher Ratio: 6:1
Skills Introduced: basic hand-eye coordination, ball tracking, tennis-appropriate reactions, respect, good sportsmanship and cooperation with in a group setting

The cost of the entire 3 week or 5 week  summer Session is based on how many classes a weekend you are registered for.

Red Ball 2.0 | Ages 7, & 8 using a Red Ball on a 36’ Court | What is This?
Offered on Saturdays and/or Sundays 10:45am – 11:45am
This class also serves as an entry point for many of our young students and we will begin or continue with the skills needed for tennis advancement. Increasingly, coaches will design more self-fed cooperative games so that the students become self-sufficient and learns the sport organically. Games in this class will emphasize proper tennis reaction and impart skills that will eventually develop a rally. Some students may even choose to compete for the first time in Junior Team Tennis.
Suggested Equipment: 21″ – 23″ tennis racquet, water bottle, athletic shoes, sport and weather-appropriate clothing
Student-to-Teacher Ratio: 6:1

Orange Ball | Ages 9 & 10 using an Orange Ball on a 60’ Court | What is This?
Offered on Saturdays and/or Sundays 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Students in this class we increase their ability to rally the tennis ball, first, from a ground stroke and, second, from a volley. The prominent focus in this group will be the introduction of ball rotation to shots — topspin and underspin. With increased spatial awareness, students will begin to follow a ball on all three dimensions (height, width, depth) and be trained to move efficiently before and after each shot. This group will also be introduced to the complete service rhythm in which the students learn to move their tossing arm and racquet arm in a controlled manner. More and more of the game situations will resemble actual tennis point play. The most developed students in this group will be challenged to play actual tennis points and participate on our junior tennis team.
Suggested Equipment: 25″ tennis racquet, water bottle, tennis court shoes, jump rope, sport and weather-appropriate clothing
Student-to-Teacher Ratio: 6:1
Skills Introduced: hand-eye coordination, ball tracking, tennis-appropriate reactions, self-led games (feeding), basic rallying, creating spin, rhythmic serving, proper point play, respect, good sportsmanship and cooperation within a group setting.

Green Ball (Formerly Junior Development)| Ages 11+ Beginner to Intermediate using a Green Ball on a Full Court | What is This?
Offered on Saturdays and/or Sundays 12:30pm – 2:00pm
By this age, students will be training on the full-sized tennis court although beginners will benefit from the low-compression “green dot” tennis ball. This group will have a very similar curriculum as the previous class but the skills will now be transferred to a full-sized tennis court. We will encourage all students to participate in some form competition once they are ready. Ideally Junior Team Tennis will serve as this entry point.
Suggested Equipment: 26″ – 27″ tennis racquet, water bottle, tennis court shoes, jump rope, sport and weather-appropriate clothing
