FAQ’s About our Intro Classes

Please read the common questions we receive from customers.

Question? When does the next class start?
Answer: The next starting dates will be announced at the conclusion of the current session, we wait until then to avoid potential conflicts with rain outs or class cancellations that may extend the length of the current class. Please view the “schedule of classes” below to see the current status of each individual class. “Class In Session” means that the class is in progress and we do not know when its going to end. “New Class Announced” means that we have determined when the next classes registration will open and when the next class will start.

Question? Do i have to keep checking the website to see when the new class dates are announced?
Answer: Although you can do that, it is recommended that you email the instructor(s) of the specific class(s) you are interested in and ask to be emailed when they announce the next classes registration date. Classes fill up fast so don’t miss the the registration date and time.

Question? What is the difference between a “class” and a “clinic”?
Answer: “Classes” are pre-paid 4 or 6 week sessions that meets once a week and progresses students through the fundamentals of tennis over that period of time. “Clinics” are weekly sign-up and pay as you go options. Clinics are great for someone who cannot commit to 4 or 6 week “classes”.

Question? Can i register online?
Answer: Although our “Daily Clinics” are available for registration through 10sPortal.com, the 4 or 6 week “Classes” are not available for online registration at this time. When they are we will update our site.

Question? Whats the difference between a 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 rated player?
Answer:

A “1.0” rated player is considered new to the game with little to no experience.
A “1.5” rated player is someone who is in the process of learning how to receive and return (hit) a tennis ball and is likely just started taking lessons in a class or private setting.
A “2.0” rated player has completed the basics of learning how to receive and return (hit) a tennis ball and is ready to start learning how to play the game of tennis.
A “2.5” rated player should be able to play games, sets and a match from start to finish. They should start points with a proper serve and keep the correct score throughout the games, sets and match. The USTA starts organized competitive league and tournament play at the 2.5 level.

Intro 1.0 | Six Week “Classes”

We offer 6 week Intro 1.0 “classes” that are designed to give the beginning student a structured progression from week 1 to week 6. Each class the instructors will review the concepts of the previous week and then introduce new a concept that builds upon what has been learned. Players new to the sport of tennis will often repeat this class before they are ready to move on to a higher level. Although this class is designed for complete beginners, it is not uncommon to have students who have previous experience register for this class as a “refresher”. Students that have previous tennis experience often move on to the next level after the end of this class unless they feel the need to repeat it again. Please email the instructors for further questions and information, calling the front desk will often result in our receptionist asking you to do this in order to not disseminate misleading information. The instructors know best!
